My dear Rebec

My dear Rebecca,

My dear friend, I have known you for 16 years, but the pas 7 years we became more close. This started during our time volunteering together on the board of Haboniem Dror Netherlands.

But when we really got to know each other better was when I moved to Israel as well a year after you, now 5 years ago.

We have spent wonderful times together. You became an inspiration and important friend in my life.

You were very busy with the army for the past 3/4 years, but every time there was an opportunity to meet in your free time, we made it happen, it didn’t matter how tired you were. We had a deep connection as two Jewish girls, not from Amsterdam, having a similar experience with our move to Israel.

Every year we prepared an activity together for the Jewish youth groups coming to Israel. Or we would visit the birthright groups together during the summer.

The months before the war that started on the 7th of October were even more special, finally after the army service, normal life, and you moved close to me. We didn’t have enough time together to finally celebrate life as an civilian 😥.

When the war started I was really worried about you, told you on a regular basis that I love you. I even tried to meet you when we were both in the same area to give you a quick hug, but you told me we were going to do this when everything would be over.

Now it’s not possible anymore, but I am thankful I had the opportunity to say goodbye, to tell you how much of an inspiration you were and will be for me.

I love you Bec, I miss you ❤️
