Ran
Ran was Rebecca’s commander at the 5729 battalion.
Rebecca served her regular military service in the Combat Intelligence Collection Corps in Battalion 727, where she served as an officer and as a platoon commander in Battalion 414. She distinguished herself throughout her service, especially at the Gaza border.
After completing her regular service and during the outbreak of the Iron Swords War, Rebecca was assigned to reserves in the Air Defense System, specifically in Battalion 5729, , focusing on the ground protection of strategic Iron Dome air defense sites. .
As the commander of the battalion and her last unit commander , I carry the heavy burden but I also have the great honor and privilege to express her farewell words.
To honor her family, I will continue my words in English.
In an unexpected turn of events, our battalion, led by Rebecca, began its mission just days before her passing. Despite our brief time together, her absence is deeply felt.
On the day of our recruitment, fate brought me back to the exact spot where I first met Rebecca at the shooting range, three months ago—a day and encounter that I will forever cherish.
Until that moment, our unit had not had any female soldiers or officers. It was a bit strange for us, not knowing what to expect. From the first moment we met Rebecca, her unique character and straightforward attitude stood out. I realized I was standing in front of a strong and genuine warrior.
Rebecca had an amazing attitude of “you tell me what to do, and I’ll do it”—no complaints, no whining—just a steadfast commitment to getting the job done. She found the perfect balance between expressing her thoughts and fulfilling her duties. From the moment she joined our unit, she demonstrated a sense of duty that went above and beyond, earning the respect and admiration of all of us.
Rebecca’s commitment to army service was not just a call of duty; it was a selfless act of devotion to protecting our country and its values. She was a true Zionist who fulfilled herself in this role.
Wherever we deployed Rebecca during her service, she left a strong mark and impression on the people she met. In Avi’s Company D and his great team of commanders and soldiers, she became an essential part of them.
Rebecca is a reflection of this era and this war—a female warrior fighting shoulder to shoulder alongside men.
In this sad moment, the small comfort we find is that Rebecca will be remembered and honored as a soldier and a warrior, as she truly deserves.
Rebecca, you will forever remain a hero, a comrade, and a source of inspiration to us all. I salute you for your service. On behalf of our unit, it has been an honor and a privilege serving alongside you.
Sacha, Robbert, Margalith, and Asher, please accept our heartfelt condolences for the loss of your beloved Rebecca. We stand by your side at this tragic moment and promise never to leave. We are here for you now and for the rest of the journey ahead.
We are now bound for life, and Rebecca is an integral part of our unit and the Air Defense family.
May she rest in peace.
